I was recently out to purchase a new hdtv and i was set on the 32'' sony bravia. When i went to go get it there was none left and i was set on buying a tv. The sony was gonna cost me 700+$ but i seen the RCA 32'' TV/DVD Combo for just under 500$. I bought it and i thought id give it a shot. Does anyone have this TV im having a heard time finding reviews on it. Was this a good deal? Or should i bring it back and spend the extra 200+$ on the bravia. Both TV's are 720p/1080i by the way. Have i made a good choice and saved money?

No1. Don't ever buy a built in DVD player. You can get a separate one for only about $30 and toss it when it gives up. Secondly, and unfortunately, RCA no longer makes quality TV products. In 32" LCD, the two top brands, for BOTH performance and reliability, are Panasonic Viera and Sony Bravia. A price point lower, but still good quality, is Toshiba Regza followed, perhaps, by Sharp Aquos and Samsung. If I couldn't buy one of these brands in a 32" LCD, I just wouldn't buy, at all. And 720p/1080i is all you need in this small screen, despite the 1080p marketing hype!!!

xbox 360 and/or LCD TV problem please help?

I have a 46" samsung LCD TV with the capacity of 1080p, so i connected my xbox 360 to the tv and changed the HD settings on the xbox to 1080p. now when i play a game like bioshock sometimes for a couple of seconds the screen goes black and say "mode not supported". then goes back. it happens when there's a lot of movement on the game, but i dont know how to fix it.

Well your TV shouldn't be the problem...it is a full HD television, and shouldn't have a problem handling your Xbox's gameplay.

Maybe you set it to play in a different mode, such as 1080i. If your problem persists, try to see if this happens to any of your other games. If not, this could just be an issue with Bioshock.

If it does happen to other games, then I'm afraid it has to do with the HD settings. You may just have to settle for standard graphics like most of us.

42" ready HD, 2HDMI, 7000:1 is for 1440 USD.
42" Full HD, 3HDMI, 15000:1 is for 3100 USD.

is it worth the difference in price!!!!

You can probably save yourself some money by checking out digitaldealz.net. A buddy of mine just picked up an awesome Samsung set from them for a great price, free delivery, and no tax. Shipping was fast, and service was excellent.

But to answer your question, it is probably the better choice to go with the full HD, but check out that site, you should be able to get a better price.

Plasma TV vs. LCD TV

You know you want to buy a flat-screen TV but you don't know if a plasma TV or an LCD TV would be your best choice.

This article explains the differences between plasma versus LCD TVs, then shows you how to get the best price for a plasma or LCD TV.

Plasma TV

A plasma TV screen consists of millions of multi-colored gas-filled cells. When electricity passes through the cells they light up and produce a picture.

Plasma TV screens have a much higher resolution than tube TV screens. In fact, the picture is so clear it's almost like watching a scene through a window.

Screen sizes range from 42" to 65" wide and are 3" to 4" thick.

LCD TV

LCD (light crystal display) TV screens are made up of a thin layer of liquid crystals sandwiched between two glass plates. When an electricity is sent through the crystals an array of tiny multi-colored pixels light up to create a picture.

LCD TV screens are thinner and lighter than plasma screens. They are the most screens for computers, and are quickly gaining popularity as TV screens.

LCD TV screens are anywhere from 1/4" to 4" thick and 2" to 65" wide.

Picture Quality

When it comes to which type of TV screen is sharper and shows more detail, plasma TVs have a slight edge over LCD TVs, though LCD TVs are catching up.

Plasma TVs are also slightly better when it comes to viewing angle - how far you can sit to one side of a TV screen before picture quality is affected.

Screen Life

Screen life is the number of hours a TV provides before the picture begins to fade. Plasma TVs have a screen life of about 30,000 to 60,00 hours, depending on the make and model, while LCD TV's have a screen life of 60,000 hours or more.

Plasma TVs are also subject to "burn in." This occurs when a TV displays a still image long enough for a ghost of that image to be burned into the screen. LCD TVs do not have this problem.

HD TV

Both plasma and LCD TVs display HD (high definition) signals for a sharper, more three dimensional picture. LCD TVs, however, have a slightly higher resolution (more screen pixels) then plasma TVs.

Video Games

Plasma and LCD TVs are both great for video gaming, however because of plasma TV's tendency toward screen burn in, an LCD TV is the better choice if you play a lot of video games.

Portability

LCD TVs are thinner and lighter than plasma TVs, making them easier to move and easier to mount on a wall.

When it comes to which type of TV gives you the most bang for the buck, it depends on what you're looking for.

If you're looking for a large-screen TV - 42" or larger - plasma TVs are currently cheaper than than similar-sized LCD TVs. When I recently compared prices on 42" TVs, the cheapest plasma TV was $999, while the cheapest LCD TV was $1,367.

When it comes to mid-size TVs, I couldn't find plasma TVs smaller than 42." The cheapest 32" LCD TV I found was $619, while the cheapest 27" LCD TV was $550.

PSX games on PS2 will not display on Sony 37" Bravia LCD?

Using a set of component video cables connecting my PS2 (slim) to my LCD TV, I'm able to see and hear PS2 games just fine. When I switch to my PSX games, I get sound, but after the "Playstation" flash-logo, I get no more video. I tried turning the TV off and back on, still no video. I tried switching inputs back and forth, no video. I tried using the other set of component inputs, still no video.

I switched the console back to my old Samsung 19" LCD, and everything works just fine.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Could definitely be something about write protection with the TV some security encoding the LCD TV can/can't read/recognize. I know this because when I record something off my 360 or TV with our DVR then plug the DVR into our media center PC to record the game play the video flickers on and off and the sound comes through just fine. I suggest getting a hold of Sony tech support and telling them your problem. They will probably find the issue for you. Good luck.

I want a good quality 42 inch because i'm suppose to buy one by next week. I want a TV with good contrast ratio and good color picture. I want a set that will be good with my video game console and my Blu-Ray. I wanted a Sony brand but it has low contrast ratio. There is a Toshiba Rezga 42 inch with 8000:1 ratio and PixelPure meaning it has "300mhz".
P.S. Do all the new 2008 Plasma models still have burn-in problems?.
