TV QUESTION: HD FULL, HD, 600HZ, PLASMA, LCD (comfussed :S!)?
Ok, so heres the plan/question
I finally start work again next week and plan to save up for an HDTV this time.
Up until this day me and my family still don't have an HD television
we're not poor or anything like that, just.. never felt the need to change
our beloved year 2000 Digital 32inch Sony Trixon tv :] (haha)
Anyway, i've done a little research and now i'm seriously stuck as
i literally know nothing about HD, Full HD, LCD, Plasma, 600Hz, 100Hz blah blah blah..
Heres what i've found:
1) LG 42LH3000 42" Full HD LCD TV (1080p) - £554.99 ($833)
2) LG 50PQ2000 50in 600Hz HD Ready Digital Plasma TV - £649.99 ($980)
3) LG 42PQ3000 42" HD Ready Plasma TV - £475.98 ($720)
Questions:
Which one is a best buy?
Would size really matter to someone like me?
Difference between 600hz and one without 600hz?
Difference between 1080p & a normal HD TV?
42'' - 50inch worth £100($150)?
(detailed answers would be greatly appreciated)

When they say HD or HD ready, they mean a 720p TV. Full HD is 1080p.
Whether or not you need a 720p TV or a 1080p TV depends on your seating distance from the TV and what size the TV is.

If you're into sports, movies and/or gaming...i recommend going with a Plasma TV! From Panasonic or Samsung...not LG though!
Plasma TV's have the highest "native" contrast ratios(5,000,000:1). Giving them the blackest blacks, whitest whites and most vivid and rich looking colors! They also have the fastest response times(.001ms) and fastest refresh rates(600hz). Making them the best at producing the sharpest and smoothest motion. Perfect for sports, movies and gaming!
Plasma TVs offer the best picture quality for their price!

Will I be able to see a difference in Coax cable RG6 vs RG 59?
Just got a 50" 720p Plasma TV & a High Gain outdoor antenna.
Getting ready to install the antenna and I saw a few people talking about how much better RG6 coax cable is, but I have a bunch of RB 59 Coax Cable laying around the house. Is it worth spending money on getting new RG6 cable or will the old stuff do? Can you see a big difference?

Hm, well, let me amend that. I can't promise you will see a difference. I can tell you, though, that RG6 is the right thing for your antenna lead-in, and RG59 is not.
If you have a need for a high gain antenna on a mast, you don't want to risk losing signal in the cable, or interference into the cable ("ingress") from nearby noise sources.
RG59 is ok for VHF, but for a long run (like from an outside antenna) it does have a more loss at higher frequencies.
RG6 is also much better shielded against signal ingress above 50 MHz.
You want RG6 dual or quad shield for your antenna cable.
Conversely, the foil shield and copper-clad steel center conductor used in RG6 don't work so well at lower frequencies, so you want to use RG59, not RG6 for baseband video (which includes component video, the Y Pb Pr signals) and digital audio, and even composite video.
It is not true that "since it's digital it doesn't matter so much." If you have a marginal signal, very close to deteriorating into "blockies", the extra noise ingress allowed by RG59 might be enough to push it over the edge into "blockies most if not all of the time."

Can Samsung T200 LCD Monitor be used as HDTV?
Hi, I have recently bought a LCD Monitor wrongly as I actually want a HDTV. So, I would like to ask if this monitor can display high definition programs or maybe just digital programs? Do I need to use an antenna?

You'll need either cable/satellite box or antenna with a converter box
If the monitor doesn't have built in speakers, you'll need speakers with a small amp (like computer speakers)

What are the benefits of built-in tuner or HDTV-ready?
A built in ATSC tuner will allow you to use a UHF antenna to receive HDTV channels over the air from the major stations in your area. But if you get cable or satellite with a set top box, the box will serve as your tuner. All future HDTV's will be required to have ATSC/QAM tuners.

Can i pick up analog TV signal with a ATSC tuner?
I will be buying a LCD HDTV. I'll be using a rooftop antenna to pick up over-the-air programing. Not all programming is in HD yet. Will the ATSC tuner pick up both analog & digital ? Or do i need to get a set with ATSC/NTSC ? If so will the tuners automatically read which signal to use? Thanks Edal
reggieman, thanks for the info. I understand about the double broadcasting analog 5, digital 5.1 signals sent out. If I purchase a ATSC only tuner & the station is broadcasting a analog program, will it come in on the 5.1 digital? Or will they send it out on the 5 analog? Thanks again Edal
Most TVs come with both NTSC and ATSC tuners now....
But most station's main channel is the same shows on NTSC....
Example : In Fort Wayne the ABC affiliate transmits NTSC on 21
ATSC is 21-1 or 21.1 on some models...
That's the same set of shows......
21-2 is the CW affiliate and 21-3 is Weather Radar.....
So an ATSC-only tuner will suffice.
When you do the "Autoprogramming" , Analog programming is the old style NTSC signal, and Digital programming is the ATSC signal....choose digital 1st, or ALL channels....
