PC Speakers and High Def LCD TV?
I am going to be buying a Samsung LN40A550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV. I am needing to know if it would be possible to use a good set of 5.1-7.1 pc speakers to replace the tv audio and if so how would i hook it up..through the headphone jack? thx
You only need a set of 2.0 speakers for the TV set, as most outputs on it will be stereo, not Dolby Surround...
If you want Dolby Surround you'll need an amp with optical inputs anyways...
And Dolby is ususually prevalent on DVDS...not on TV shows.
Reviews: Kanex iAdapt HDMI V2 Mini DP to HDMI adapter
Quality and the setup process There's not much to say about the iAdapt HDMI V2's design other than that it's well-built; it's clearly meant to match the current aluminum and white aesthetic spread across most of the current Mac line. The cabling is thick and unlikely to fray or break unless you bend it to a clearly unreasonable angle. Unlike the ...... HDMI - Apple - Business - Macintosh - Video

I just upgraded from a 37" tube tv to a 46" lcd hdtv and now I suck at COD. It seems laggy. What happened?
I play COD modern warefare 2 on my xbox 360. The new huge tv seems really laggy and the sensitivity when I aim is way off... I cant aim my cross hairs on someone to save my life. And I used to be sooo good playing on my tube tv. Are large tvs known for being laggy and hard to play on? Keep in mind that I did set the settings to 1080 p hd on the xbox and the samsung has 6ms response time on it, which i heard is pretty fast for a response time. Thanks!!
LCDs are known for having motion blur and lag. 6ms isnt that great of a response time what that might be a 120hz tv? Generally speaking a LCD response time is around 8ms ~60hz. To improve response time they have 120hz and 240hz which can get the response time as low as 2ms. Some people still may notice motion blur. Plasmas tend to be better with fast motions such as video games, sports, and action movies because it has virtually no motion blur and are standard around .001ms response time.

1080p LCD under 32 inches?
Does anyone know if they make LCD TVs with 1080p resolution but under 32 inches? I need a new TV, but I can only find 720p, and don't want to buy one of those if I can get a 1080.
dont think so and to be honest your not gonna see any difference between the two anyway at that size. 40 inch and up is where 1080p will matter. plus 98% if not all HD channels are transmitted in 1080i (720p) anyway right now. gonna be A WHILE till its blu ray (full 1080p) quality. by that time, youll be needing a new tv

stuck between a rock and a LED LCD tv.?
I am about to buy LED LCD tv,47 inch 240hz 1080p Vizio. I am buying it now because I will never get a deal like this again. I am really worried because a guy at best but has told me that comcast doesn't broadcast in1080p only 720i. I see how good all the tv look in the stores that's only because they are hooked up to blue rays. I wonder how they will look hooked up to normal cable lets say com cast. I also wonder being hooked up to normal cable will it be fuzzy or will their be ghosting? If so is it really worth it at all to get a HI def tv at all. I mean if the only way I will get a good pitcher is watching a blue ray or ording hd channels. It still might not be worth it. I know a LED LCD will not turn regular cable into blue ray but I just don't want the pitcher to be all messed up blurry ghosting lagging. Just make regular cables pitcher a little better. WHAT DO YOU THINK???
The TVs at best buy are not connected to a blu ray player. They are using a private channel from DirecTV, it runs at 720p, the signal is carried digitally over the coaxial cable, and the TVs digital tuner handles it. The only time a HDTV will be connected to a blu ray player in a store is when it's just one TV and one blu ray player, there is no way to connect 50 TV sets via HDMI to a blu ray player without some massive cost and complexity.
There is no such thing as 720i.
There is 1080p available on cable and SAT, however it's very limited, and in the form of on demand, not live channels.
HD from over the air, SAT or Cable is mixed. I have comcast and the different definitions has nothing to do with the cable company but the based on network choices. 720p and 1080i is what you get from cable depending on the channel.
If you have regular cable right now, your HDTVs 'clear QAM' tuner will pick up the local networks like NBC, ABC etc in HD, by law the cable companies must transmit the local networks in HD and 'in the clear' or unscrambled. Just connect straight to the TV with no box. If you want full HD like Fox news, CNN, ESPN, HBO in HD, you'll have to pay and get the box to decode it.
HD on your new TV will look fine, it's not blu ray but it's so much better than regular cable. A LCD TV with LED back lights is fine, but I'd personally recommend a new 2010 plasma from Panasonic, LG Infinia or Samsung, those sets blow away all the LCD/LED sets.

I am able to purchase this tv for 1200 bucks and get a blue ray player with it. I really prefer the 46" but costs minimum 2000 bucks. Should I go with the 42" at this price or look for something else or get the 46". Looking for the best deal for the money and I think I found it. Oh yeah, no interest or payment for 12 months.
you should get a hi def projector.... it wont be outdated nearly as fast as an LCD.... personally I prefer the 1978 wooded box console tv

I don't want my game to lag on my TV.?
I'm looking to buy a LCD to get down on some halo. (32 inch, 1080p) and I'm wondering what is more important to prevent lag? Hz or ms response time? Right now, I'm juggling between the Panasonic Viera-1 which is a 120HZ but has a 8ms response time and the LG 32LD350 that has 4ms response time but is only a 60HZ. The Panasonic is also a 20,000:1 aspect ratio, while the LG is 70,000:1. By the way, I'll be using an Xbox 360 elite to game.
To me, it would seem like the LG is the way to go. I just want to make sure when I go online to shoot it out on Halo, MW and Borderlands that I'm not dead before I even see a bullet fired, you know?
Which is better?
Here's what I did. I decided to buy my TV at Best Buy. So I took my Xbox 360 to Best Buy and asked them if I could try it out on the different TVs I was considering (they have the TVs out on display so it's really easy to just hook up and play). If they want to sell the TV they should have no problem. Tell them you want to check for lag, they should understand. Then just test them out and make sure they don't lag!

If you are talking BOTH performance and reliability, get the Sharp. Otherwise, they are pretty much equal and I'd go with best price and warranty. Samsung does have the best advertising campaign, however! lol
Hint: In 37" LCD, the two very best are Panasonic Viera and Sony Bravia - you might want to take a look!

The 40" BRAVIA™ S-Series LCD HDTVKDL-40S2000 LCD TV claims it can display 1080i, but...?
but under "specifications" it says the resolution is 1366 x 768. If the vertical resultion of a TV set is only 768, how can it display 1080i? Doesn't 1080i mean that the vertical resolution is 1080 pixels?
(Here is the website: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/+INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?CategoryName=tv_flatpanel_26%22to42%22&ProductSKU=KDL40S2000&TabName=specs&var2=).
1080i means that the source material is recorded with 1080 interlaced scanned rasters (vertical pixels). This means that 540 lines are scanned, then the alternating 540 lines are scanned.
The television scales the 1080i image to render in the 768p or 768 progressively scanned rasters. This means that 768 lines are scanned in order without interleaving or interlacing.
It's kind of like zooming the picture, but in reverse. I have a 42" plasma which is 1024x768 and the 1080i picture looks darned fine. I'm not sure how noticble the difference between a full resolution 1920x1080i screen and 1366x768 or 1024x768 screen at 40" diagonal from 10-12 feet away.
